5.0 oil separator

Hi everyone. I don't use the site much but now that I own my first new truck in 23 years(Still own the '96 as well) I thought I'd ask if anyone has tried to install the Ford oil separator on a 2019 F150 5.0. They do not have a specific kit for the '18+ F 150 5.0 but from what I learned from FRPP, the M-6766-A50A kit would be the closest match. The reason that I want the kit from FRPP is that it looks like it belongs there vs. other brands. Looks like I might have to make a bracket for this kit and reconfigure one of the hoses? Thank you in advance.

Normally I'd say an oil separator is a waste of money, but maybe not on the new gen of Coyote. It would be interesting to see how much oil is collected from these new plasma coated cylinder engines.

Interesting science experiment, but it isn’t going to have any benefit for your engine. They are port and direct injected, so the valves see fuel and thus are cleaned. I wouldn’t bother in any 5.0 since they went straight from port injection to dual and it’s an NA motor

I tend to agree that it's unnecessary. Regarding the plasma cylinder issues, oil passing the rings gets burned so a catch can wouldn't theoretically help related to that either.

If you're up for a read, there's a whole big thread where we went over the catch cans for the 3.5 Ecoboost. It meanders a bit, but there is a lot of good information for both sides of the discussion: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-ecoboost.html

Your choice, I run one and have had it for about 30,000 miles. I’ve saved what I’ve collected in an old plastic bottle and have about 1/2 a quart of oil that’s been collected. The oil if it hadn’t been collected would have been sucked into intake portion of the heads,,, sure it would just burn off but it would also leave excessive amounts of carbon / sludge in the combustion chambers.

My truck has the 5.0 and I think the oil separator has been a sound investment for the longevity of the vehicle.

Its the only aftermarket part I’ve added to the engine and when I take it in for an oil change or service I take it off.

I have a You Tube about installing/checking the Ford Performance Oil Separator on my 2018 5.0 during the first week after I bought it. It was for the Mustang 5.0 and not the 150 after 2017 as a direct fit.. I made a bracket that attached to the battery box lip and removed some of the "plastic" on the separator so it fit snug. I used one of the new lines and found another off Rock-Auto so I could remove the unit for dealer service(my choice) i do not know if they would care or not. There is always oil in when I check. I've responded to many threads on this subject on this and other Forums.good luck
