Thanks to everyone who replied to my post. This is a good message board. I'm looking for a tach cluster at the local salvage yards. I hope that the swap is a no-brainer, difficulty wise.
marnol: If your truck is like the '95s and you don't have electronic 4wd controls you can put the dash in the right of the dash by cutting a hole. I fit a large tach, probably 3" wide in mine. This one is held in merely by the tightness of the opening:

Hey Hotrod88,
My truck was doing that for a while and I changed the voltage regulator. Problem solved. Also my batteries charge better than they did now.

basically it's just a unplug, and replug. If you want to keep the same mileage, youll have to unplug the memory bank. And swap. Also, if you intend to trade this truck down the road, keep onto the old cluster, and swap them back out. You can sell the cluster later if need be. My 1993 had the tach originally. If I ever sell it, I'll do the swap too.
Unfortunately my truck has the regulator built into the alternator. So I really can't change it out. It has a new alternator in it. Thanks for the tip though. It might work on my 65 eventually.

where is the tach wire located, I'm trying to install a shift light, it has a positive, negative and a wire for the tach wire to connect to, where can I find that wire on a 95 explorer sport?
