new e350 7.3 owner help

need help and info.. I just bought a e350 van with the infamous 7.3. supposedly previous owner was a mechanic, and owned this van for 13 years. I was told it was bulletproofed.! no idea what that means. also has a dp tuner. I'm interested in selling but don't want to give it away for nothing. anyone's help would be appreciated. I have attached some photos. van is custom. has front and rear hitch. I just need help figuring out what it's worth. please and thanks guys.

Too bad it’s rusty...

I see vans selling cheap all the time. Even 7.3’s. The exception is a really nice one with low miles - but even they are not as valuable as a clean truck or Excursion.

I bought a ‘rough’ 7.3 van to do a 4wd swap on and will get a nice E150 conversion van body to drop on it.

does the rust really drop the value that much? rust is only around the bottom, not too too much

We call it cancer up here, once it starts it spreads like stage 4 cancer.

Not much help other than to say that if the so called mechanic seller told you that a 7.3 powerstroke was "bulletproofed" that was lie number one.....

I’m in the south. We list a ZERO rust 7.3 for sale for $10k and invariably, some jackass from up North responds ‘I can buy truck with 1/2 as many miles for $1500’. Of course, his truck is a rusty POS on it’s 3rd set of brake lines and not a single fastener on the truck will ever come off without great effort. His $1500 truck isn’t even worth $1500...

Yes, rust destroys the value. ‘Just a little’ is just an indication of what is to come. ‘Typical rust’ is another comic term rust belt sellers use. Again, our trucks have no rust. It’s not uncommon to be able to fully unscrew even exhaust bolts here. Our northern friends can’t even imagine such a thing.

The structure of the truck looks good but all of your lower panels are starting to rust but it's not bad yet. I think that there should be a way to stop it in it's tracks but if there is I'm still looking for it myself.

yeah man this truck is crazy. it's got 205k miles. and has a conversion done, looks like it was used for transport. it has a dp tuner installed and a scan gauge. Also I noticed a 4 inch exhaust l. there's definately more done to this truck. I just don't know. it drives amazing and has so much power. when put it in tuner setting 8 which is 120+hp performance tune. she burps alll this black smoke. she's a beast.

Fluid Film can do that. I send these rust-free trucks up north with more than a hope and prayer. The long wand is for sticking up inside rocker panels and other body cavities. I use at least a gallon per truck.

Without an EGT gauge, you are playing Russian roulette using that chip on any setting. In 120hp tune - you are playing it with 5 rounds in a 6 shooter.
