Hello, so I’ve been wondering about this. I’ve asked a few other 10th gen owners about this, and they are all confused as to how this happens. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience with their gauge cluster peeling, or if this is somehow unique to my truck. I was also wondering if there was a simple and fairly inexpensive way to fix this. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
I've not heard of this happening ever to any vehicle without some damage to the cluster face itself. I don't know if there is a way to reface the part but I know you can get a new cluster from rockauto for $300 after the core charge is refunded (thought about adding a factory cluster with a tach). Best of luck.
Maybe a chemical reaction to what ever your using to clean the lens. Also what ever is used to clean the dash board might be getting on the lens. Any products with acetone, lacquer thinners etc. that might react with certain forms of plastic.
I swapped out my gauge cluster on my 1997 because it did not have a tach and I wanted a tach, just be sure to get one from the same year/year group, There are plenty of these trucks in the junkyards so sourcing a used one should not be hard and they are not that hard to change out.
Make note if you have a mechanical or a digital odometer as you will need to replace with the same type of odometer.
Your pic looks like a mechanical odometer but double check anyway
