The heat barrier insulation on my 2018 6.2 dually has become unattached from the cab underside and now smolders atop the left bank exhaust pipe at the resonator input.
How it was originally adhered is not clear – looks like a couple of now melted plastic rivets and perhaps adhesive. What is clear is that it looks like a good place for a fire given the proximity to the Oil slinging transfer case rear seal. Has anyone else experienced this and how have you dealt with it?
Mine fell down and rested on the drive shaft..... I was hearing a odd noise. Almost wore a hole in it, but the drive shaft was nice and shiny. glued it back up with PL premium. All good, almost a year ago.
You may need a dealer trip if your is melted or damaged.
The plastic buttons used by Ford to hold this barrier in place are not up to the task I replaced the affected section with a peal and stick product. Not an easy location to clean and apply. We’ll see how this holds up.
