Ford 49 f1 truck. I just purchased my 49 Ford f1 truck. The speedometer cable was missing. So I purchased one from Midwest Early Ford. Greased it with white lithium and hooked it up. As I am in Ohio I tested the speedometer my putting the rear wheels on jacks and it looked like it was working fine. I finally had a nice day to take it for a drive. The speedometer didn't move. Both ends of the cable are still tight. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help!
I was able to screw the caps down on both ends after making sure the inner cable was inserted into the hole. Was there a trick to this or something to watch out for? As far as the lithium grease I applied a thin coating wearing a latex glove. After reading several threads the main recommendations seemed white lithium grease and not to overdo it
