Hey I am currently dealing with msnitlba public insurance about a roll over I had just over 3 months ago, it went to investigation unit and for some reason the black box in my 2006 F150 fx4 told them that my truck was not running, no throttle response, no braking, no rmps. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them or have heard of this happening.
I’ve never heard of that - the only thing I can think of is maybe they’re not looking at the correct logs.
Maybe they’ve already tried it, but my only advice is to contact Ford directly - they’ll have to start with the general customer service department - I’m sure they’re not the only insurance company to have questions about their products.
Your black box is called an EVENT RECORDER.
Look it up on the Internet for more information.
It may be part of the Air Bag controller in that year.
It monitors about 10 inputs +/- on a 10 second loop basis and keeps over writing data until a crash has occurred then it freezes data in a memory that would not need power to be saved after a situation..
The data can only be read out by a specific computer and by an authorized person.
If you are pursuing a legal conflict, an Attorney specializing in these cases is needed and a readout by a second independent may be needed.
If there is nothing in the recorder, what is the concern other than why is there no recorded data and what are the 'implications' of that.
Being from CA. I can see why your asking.
Good luck.
If there is nothing in the recorder, what is the concern other than why is there no recorded data and what are the 'implications' of that.
Probably because his claim is for a rollover and the recorder is saying the vehicle was parked. You know insurance companies, they're quick to take your premiums and even quicker to try and get out of covering your losses.
