Well, plans so far is only to rebuild it from the ground up. 🙂
I've done oil change, headlight bulb replacement, and installed new big boy mirrors.
in the works is k&n air and fuel filter change and then moving onto transmission filter and fluid after that.
somewhere along the line I’ll be installing second skin damplifier pro to all 6 doors with a layer of heat foam over that. I currently have no stereo in the truck but that will be remedied by kicker 6x8 in all 4 doors and kicker stealth box under the center console. I’ll give the floor a treatment of samplifier pro and luxury liner pro after that. That’s the far future plans though.
Immediate plans after the tranny service is full front end suspension and steering replacement. Brakes and rotors going to slotted and not sure which pads yet. F-250 leaf springs front and rear with a skyjacker super soft add a leaf. I’ll run the pro crap that’s on there for a while until I have the cash for fox 2.0 on all 4 corners.
another addition will be interco 35x10 tires so I can retain the same stock wheels. Someone in their infinite wisdom installed 35x12.5 BFG/AT on the stock wheels. Pretty sketchy but it works for the time
being.
if anyone sees anything I missed with the plans please inform me. I’ve build a rice burner to very respectable power and a Jeep Rubicon that played with the big boys on 35x12.5. I have never built a tank though. Should be a fun ride.
Sounds like a great plan. Take a look at the Tech folder to see what else you can service, upgrade, modify. Many of these how how-to instructions with photos.
It’s 4WD with 257k on it. Still runs up and down the grade pretty good. She’s a bit tired but some tlc all over should do the trick.
changed out fuel filter and air filter yesterday, both k&n and there was a noticeable difference in engine performance. Idle was smoother and the power was more consistent across the rpm band. No actual data just my seat of the pants observation but it was a welcome occurrence.
Also if anyone comes across a rear passenger door give me a holler. I’m in need of one.
So far fuel pump, plugs and boots, fuel filter, and starter replaced. And went ahead and took care of the tires that delaminates on me and went back dow to stock size. Now I have a coolant leak at the front of the engine that I suspect is the water pump. I shall have to investimigate that one further.
Found the door at a pick a part not too far away. Just have to figure out how to get it to fit in right. It’s got some binding issues with the front door. Always fun.
