As much as I don't want to spend the money and take of the steps I need something with more protection for the rockers and the bottom of the doors, I live almost 10 miles down a gravel road and my last truck took a beating. I was looking at the go rhino boards but its hard to tell if they would protect that area, I want something that looks good as well, just wondering what you guys are using, if you could post pics that would be awesome, thanks. Im loving the new superduty!
Lots of options, vendors (carid, runningboardwarehouse, rockauto, etc)..........I just put a set of i-Armors on a SuperDuty...............fairly well made (alum), good fit, simple install.........
Havoc HST bought off Amazon for $500ish. Plus $40 bucks for Stainless Carriage bolts from HD, Those plus the Ford mudflaps I think block anything from hitting the rockers.
They should pay me royalties for the advertising.
My original idea was to order the truck with the black plastic Ford boards. They wouldnt allow that on a Lariat. Dealer told me they could order them for me. But when I went to order them all they could produce was some black oval steel pipes of no name brand... obviously chinese. They actually told me they couldnt get the stock Ford XL running boards?? So I told them to forget that.
I spent a couple weeks researching before buying these. I spent 200 bucks less than the least expensive Ford Lariat units. 100 bucks more than the Ford cost for the XL units.
I had gorhino on my dodge, they did an excellent job protecting my rockers. also you can get paint color linex now days and put that along the bottom? that seems to hold up against rock chips well. also look at the clear(20mm) thick vinyl coating that goes on the bottom of the doors/rockers. that stuff takes a beating well also.
