Can an 1990 E40D 2wd tranny out of a F-150 be used in a 1991 Bronco with out major modification?

i dont believe so, you need one that was or had been mated to a transfercase. but could be wrong

I think the tailshaft on the end of an E4OD can be removed and a transfer case put in between it and the transmission. At least, that's what it looks like Ford does. On a 4wd truck E40D the tailshaft is placed after the transfer case and looks the same as the one on a 2wd truck. Could be wrong though. Good luck
