Can anyone help ID this flathead V8 from a 1952 Ford F1?
1st photo is at the rear of the engine where bell housing attaches.
2nd photo intake manifold stamp.
3rd photo left head.
4th photo right head.
The numbers on the bellhousing mean nothing as far as identifying a particular year. Your engine is a '48 - '53 flat V8. Without teardown, that's about all you can tell.
Ross has your best info right there.
You'll find casting numbers for each individual part. That's what most of those are. The bellhousing number some guys decipher as the date of casting, but I've never been able to follow their reasoning and it doesn't synch with Ford's common numerical system. It's my opinion it is known only to the mold makers.
