Hey I am brand new to the forum I have an 02 F250 with the 7.3 psd and an automatic transmission. This truck just today started acting like it had a locked differential. When I was driving on the dirt driveway I could feel a weird jerking and the truck had a hard time keeping moving. I had the door opened and was able to look back at the rear drivers side tire and could see it grabbing and trying to spin faster similar to how trucks with locking diffs will. I can’t find anything else on the internet where people are having this issue so any help will be appreciated
I'm skeptical that the factory limited grip could exert this much force or influence.
Obviously difficult to diagnose across the internet without more information, but I'd definitely want to get the rear up in the air and check for noises and almost surely yank the diff cover. Check the pinion for play first.
The 10.25s suffered from ring gear bolts that'd back out, but I thought that was addressed in the 10.5 (the fix was always just shouldered bolts from a D70).
OP do some more research and post back, your situation is intriguing

Thanks for the reply I definitely will take off the diff cover and do a fluid change this week. I fired it up and put putted around and so far fingers crossed the issue appears to be gone for now. If it comes back I will video it. Thanks for the info 👍
I'd also just try to spin the rear wheels and listen/feel. The DIH parking brake is kinda sketchy and if the shoe hold-downs fail and the shoes move/bind/**** you can get all manner of problems, but it'll eventually cook your rotor and then that's not great for wb's either.
For that matter, carefully feel each hub after driving for awhile, checking for excessive heat.
