Help with voltage drop testing

So my fuel gauge stopped working, it stays on E (actually falls below E once I start the truck). First thing I did was test the fuel sender with an Ohmmeter. Was reading 128 Ohms, which means the gauge should read about 3/4 full. Next I tested the voltage coming to the sending unit with the key in the RUN position and got 10.8 volts. Too low, right? I did some searching and was suggested to me to do some voltage drop testing on the power side and the ground side. I’m looking at my wiring diagrams, and I’m having trouble pinpointing where to test along the circuit. Where is the ground circuit for this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would think vehicle ground would be a good ground reference. If the cluster gauge reads ZERO, or below with Key On, I would check for a reference voltage provided from the cluster on either pin 27 or 28. According to your schematic, the other pin should present some varying voltage depending on position of the fuel level rheostat if the sending unit is ok. (should be if you read 128 ohm continuity through it.) My guess is you have a poor solder joint or bad component on the IC.
