Fuel system priming
After draining the water separator or changing fuel filters, the manual calls for priming the system by turning the "key" on for 30 seconds, repeating two or six times. How do you do this with the button start (no key)? Does turning it on in accessory mode (don't press the brake) activate the fuel pump? Seems like it would not.

Just press the button without your foot on the brake....I think. Won't start but not sure if it will cycle the pump. You should be able to hear it.

You can hear the fuel tank pump run when you do that.

When changing filters, I change the frame mounted filter then prime the truck. After it’s primed, I then change the engine mounted filter.
The above is correct for priming with a push start. Hit it once without foot on brake, wait 10 seconds, hit it again to turn off. Repeat about 6 times.

The water separator is not replaced unless something is wrong with it. The water separator and filter housing are the same unit. Remove the old filter, wipe the housing down, install new filter, done. Watch the video in post 4.

and the drivers door closed
if you push the button with the door open (standing outside of the truck), it will dry start even though you did not tap the brakes.

It doesn't, it will only start if you press and hold the button for 3 sec. No need to press and hold the button to prime.
