I am glad all went well, and you got better mileage than you thought you were gonna get! How did it tow?


I agree with the other post, your not gonna gain anything but alot lower power with the straight 6. I'd stay with the 351.

"We also do not know was RPM the motor is turning at what speed?" 65 mph = 2200 rpms in 5th. don't know what the rear gears are, but a rpm calculator online coincides with what is on the door plate code 3.70.
"How did it tow?" It did well almost like there wasn't anything behind me the plus was with the extra weight in back it went down the road a bit straighter.
I might stick with the 351 after all he did a lot better than I ever thought he would.

You'll do better than fine. I'd leave the 351C in it, buddy had two tone blue '66 SB, neatest little truck.

January 01, 1974 but a 300 I6 with a load was / is not a great highway hauler … not even in 1966.

I see it is done. I knew it would be fine. That 300 would have been working, using the gas too.
