My new to me ‘17 platinum 6.7 has a level of some sort on it. Pardon the ignorance but I don’t know much about it as I bought it used from a dealer. It also has 295/60/20 terra grapplers on it.
I would like to add steering stabilizer to help with handling over bumps. I get a lot of feedback in the steering wheel. No death wobble though! Any suggestions are appreciated.
Options are single or double. A lot of recent posts on this is if you look in the last two pages.
The double is suppose to be your best option but a lot of guys get the single to replace their stock and are just fine. Will take care of most of the feedback you’re feeling in your wheel.
Yes to all that. Im looking at Kelderman with Fox double and parts on Keldermans website are $585. Also people have recommended PMF. Their website shows I thing about $535. The Kelderman looks more HD to me but both get good grades on the various threads. Also I was recently recommended to look at King Offroad Racing if your looking at just replacing the stock SS. I think it was maybe $295. And Fox has a direct replacement thats somewhat less than that.
Thats my research so far. And leaning towards dual fox kelderman bracket so far.
A lot of guys just put a Bilstien or Rancho replacement for under $100 and are fine.
I installed the Kelderman with fox’s a few weeks back on my 450. I solved 90% of the feedback I was getting. Their brackets a very heavy. They are probably 3/16” thick.

Im surprised to hear you had negative feeling on your 450. I have a 2010 and a 2017 and both are utterly without bump steer or any nervous feeling. I bought my 250 expecting the steering to feel as good. as a result Ive been disappointed.
I thought the wide trac was responsible.

It was not horrible. That being said I really like tight steering. I always add SS. However, the 450 was noticeably worse than my 2017 350. I feel that it is due to the tires. They are very stiff and not very forgiving.
Yes, my 450s are government bid spec mason dumps. I ordered them with A/T tires but the Contis are kind of highway for my use. Not even sure which ones they are. But they were terrible plowing snow. I had to set the 2010 up with 4 tire chains for the winters we had in maybe 2010 through 2013. Even with an 800 Lb spreader plus salt the wheels would spin. I put Goodyears on it. I forget the number but a meaty block pattern lug tire. Ride is improved and no need for chains although we havnt seen the 12" or better storms in several years here. Not a huge selection in the 19.5s.
do the duel stabilizers, add some decent shocks.. pay once, cry once and your done. Leave the factory one on as long as it doesn't feel too tight. or removed it.
I love that... Pay once, cry once.....
I usually prefer to wear out the stock tires and shocks a little more. But in this case Im doing the dual SS in the spring. I have 10,000 miles now. And when Im on the highway I grab the wheel firmer over every bridge when Im on the highway. I didt pay this much for a truck for it to make me feel like its going to do something weird every time I hit a bump.
I was having death wobble and terrible bump steer on my 19 350 CCLB. Last week I bought the Kelderman with Fox stabilizers since I am still at stock height for now. Night and day difference, I feel almost nothing when hitting potholes, broken asphalt and cats.
With that said when I crawled under the truck it’s no wonder these super duty’s have such issues with this. The single factory stabilizer looks like it came off the Ford Ranger. At 8k lbs that’s not going to cut it.
I am also going with a dual stabilizer on the 19. I am going to install Bilstein 5100s front and rear for a softer ride on my non-lifted truck and I will use Fox for the SS so it's a bit more rigid.
