I was planning on getting up early and wrenching a little. Work on the truck(s) is going pretty good. Got the new fuel system in the ranger, got a stuck egr and all the vacuum lines are shot. Hopefully after I get that done I'll be able to convince someone it looking like it crashed into an ugly tree or twelve is a good thing and they'll buy it from me. Went back and tightened my cab down, hope the front-back alignment won't be an issue as I've got no point of reference. Hopefully when I get the Rad support on I won't have to shift anything around to get the fenders lined up right. Managed to get lucky and dropped the cab within an eighth of an inch left to right. Got the rear dead on the money, front is out 1/32, or I guess half that, so no sense crying over imaginary margins of error. After I fill the motor and transmission up I get to stab the distributor and fire her up. Don't figure I'll need working brakes for that? Plan on putting the dash back together and cleaning up it's harness so I can't drop in the column and put the bench seat in. After that doors are good to go on. Hopefully I can have get the engine harness rebuilt while I save up for fluids(something like $200 for the motor and transmisson). Have no idea what Im going to put in the rear end. Have to check the owners manual I guess.
Last couple of days felt like fishing weather, but the river here looks like it's going to tear down the levee's and it's moving to fast to bank fish. My local pond has an otter hanging around, it's pretty well killed all the catfish. Hate going out there and seeing a half dozen or more catfish between a pound and two and a half pounds floating dead missing just their tail fin. That appears to be all the otter eats of them.
SO-ggy! Wet and cold sure makes a guy want to nap. Still making progress. But I have to to be ready for the outside stuff the next time it's nice. Spent an hour hunting a picture to help me get my power steering pump and brackets on right. The misalignment is crazy. Front back alignment hits the middle of two pulleys on the crank. But the angle is out so bad it's pointed to the middle one. Think my pulley might be bent a little. Gonna have to use some creative shimming it looks like. Maybe I can get it to hit the outside position if I flip the pulley and shim. Be nice to get two belts directly on the alt since I don't have the smog pump or ac compressor to deal with for now.
Looking good to have my truck back together in two weeks. After that I should be able to come to your neck of the woods again. Got a little demo work, plus an insurance man to strangle, but after that I'll be a free agent again. Starting to miss Cow Country. Hope all is well. Think they are processing me through for AR chapter leader, waiting to hear back from the powers that be.
Looks like the wheel of weather landed on cold again. Got my dash in, right now swapping connectors from the donor where mine are missing or damaged. Should have done that before I fought the dash in place. I've been busier than a cat covering it up. Shooting for this weekend to get her to fire, but it's going to be a rush to get it ready by then.
