Patching a Fuel Line
I am getting ready to change my fuel filter, and wondering about a backup plan, just in case I botch the job.
My virginal experience with changing a filter on a high pressure fuel injected system.
I've been checking the manuals, and know about the spring release tool, and depressure of the fuel lines.
Any tips would be helpful.
Thanks
But back to your question, most auto part stores sell little kits based your on fuel line diameter. I kinda have an interesting story to go with this one about 2 years ago my brother was tooling around in his T-Bird, decided to be cool and take out a traffic cone, well the cone won
It got stuck underneath the car and broke the fuel line. Needless to say at 1:45 am I get a call, "hey Mark I need some help..." a few f-bombs later
I was out the door with flashlights in hand. So there we were at about 2 am on the side of a dark, back road in Colchester, CT we only had a few tools and duct tape, well the duct tape worked good enough. I drove her for the 2 mile ride home with my brother following in my truck, she did pee gas the whole way home but we had 1/2 tank of gas so no worries about running out and at 2am I wasn't worried about someone tossing a cigarrette and lighting the fuse. The next day, we took a trip to NAPA and discovered the wonderful fuel line patch kits they have, basically a foot long insert with small clap type things if I remember correctly. It did the job, I still the car around town since we sold it to a local High School kid.
