Grease Fitting on 4x4 Front Spindle
I have a 99 F350 crew cab dually witha power stroke. It has a solid front axle. On the top of the yoke that the wheel spindle mounts to, there is a fitting with a red cap. Upon further examination there is a tube leading down through the yoke into the bearing area. Is this supposed to be a grease fitting or a vent. One guy tells me to remove it and replace it with a zerk fitting and another tells me it is a vent. Anyone know ?

That is the vacum port for the auto hubs ,not to be used as a grease fitting.
Your truck must have manual hubs!
If you force grease in there you will cause a mess and blow out the o-ring that keeps dirt out.
