I currently have a ZF s-42 transmission from a 95 f250 in my 65f100, Dad built it that way probably from what he had on hand. It works great behind my 300, but the seal behind the yoke is leaking. I dropped the driveshaft and see the nut in the center of the yoke, but I do not have a socket to fit. My question is what size is it? I'm thinking 1 1/2 inch, but it will require a thin wall specialty socket that I will likely have to order and don't want to do that repeatedly. Has anybody changed thiers and if so, my second question is what seal did you get to replace it? Thanks in advance for the assistance.
Thank you Eric. I found the seal and have it on the way. Were you able to get a regular socket on there or did you have to use a special one? The inside of the yoke slopes inward slightly keeping the 1 7/16 I tried (which looked close and is the equivalent of a 36) from even getting to the nut so I couldn't verify it was the right size.
