Brake lines

I’m converting my 68 to have disc brakes and it sure has given me a headache, I’m using 73 spindles and want to put on stainless brake lines. Before I order parts does anyone know if the 68 brake hoses will fit the 73 calipers? Or if 73 brake hoses will fit the 68s brake lines? I’m also not sure what to use for a pushrod for my factory style brake booster would a universal one work? My original one is missing

You want to put braided stainless lines to the calipers? You will just need to buy the correct fitting for the caliper and the frame(to convert to 3AN) and attach the stainless braided line.

I wanted to know what brake hoses to use after I replace the brake lines, I think Napa can make me some that will work, my stainless lines on my 68 end lower down than the 73 lines do on the frame. I didn’t know if the thread size is the same on the fittings either

Usually you get the brake hose for the year of the caliper.

The hard lines are usually the same.

For example, on my 1967 F-250 4x4, I put in a 1979 F-250 Dana 44 front axle with 2 piston discs. What lines to get?

I went at it like this...

1. 1967-1977.5 F-250 4x4 Frames all the same.
2. 1976-1977.5 F-250 had same axle as the one I got from the 1979
3. Ordered brake lines for the 1976-1977.5 Disc brake front axle (minding serial number split)

These lines mate right up to the hard lines from the 1967.

Make sense?

First, 68-72 Drum brake lines are shorter and have different ends (wheel side) than the 73-74 Disc Brake flexible lines. For this you need to order 73-74 Disc Brake Stainless lines. However, if thou they are longer they WILL NOT reach the flex to hardline bracket without some modification. You need to get the longer L (actually more of a 45deg) bracket from a 73-74. The later bracket extends out from the frame farther. So this means you also need to bend the metal lines to match up with this.
Fittings wise, the flex to hardline fittings are the SAME. I believe they are 3/8-24 inverted flare on a 3/16 metal line.
For the pushrod, you need a longer one because of the firewall brackets push the booster back an extra inch or so. Most websites that sell the kit with the brackets also have the pushrod for sale separately.
