1956 F-100 1 Piece Window Kit

I did a search and could not find anything recent on this subject so I want some recent thoughts.

I have a 1956 F-100 Big Window and want to convert to the 1 pc side windows.

I was looking for thoughts on the best company to get a quality kit. I have found a few such as Ball and Rod's Vintage Glass ( Horrible reviews on Facebook) Mid Fifty (Good reviews but difficult kit to install)

I would love to hear from folks that have installed this conversion and who they recommend for parts.

Ok, that is good to hear. I was leaning toward Mid-fifty for the customer service.

I thought about doing the 1 window conversion on my truck also as it actually would have been cheaper since I needed division bars and all 4 pieces of glass and some parts for the vent windows, etc. I ended up ordering all parts to put back to original because my truck is just going to be a fun work truck, and vent windows are such a novelty now a days... On a side note- I had 8 college freshman brought over to the shop by my granddaughter yesterday and it was so funny the questions they asked about the truck. " How could a truck get so much rust on it, A modern truck could never get that much rust, could it?" I told them it could if it makes it to 64 years old! Anyway I will be following you with interest if you end up doing the conversion.

There is more involved doing the solid side glass on the 53-55 years..

Greg,
that was Very cool to have all of those young kids over. As soon as I get my truck here and get started in it, I will update with photos as I go.

I'm sure that it is not as simple as take the old glass out and install the new! I did my 68 C10 and years ago, I did a couple of Volkswagons so I I am guessing that with a Good Quality kit and Good Advise from guys on this Forum, I will get it done!

The 56 side window is a walk in the park compared to the slant cab install. Depending on your local vendors, all the pieces needed can be procured from auto glass suppliers. Admiral Glass here in El Cajon makes all my flat glass, F100 and 40 Ford, and sells it at a much better price than online vendors. You may want to check around Lubbock. There is not much n the way of modification necessary, as I recall there is only one bolt/anchor nut on the side mirror mount that gets modified and one new glass track that gets added to support the forward glass edge. The felt channel comes pre-bent in the kits whereas you have to make two 90 degree bends in it if you buy it from a glass supplier. Other than that it's just getting the glass mounted into the lower channel and installing the electric window mechanism. You got this...
