Archoil every oil change (once a year low mileage truck)
Cetane booster when I get a hair up my a$$ and buy a case of stanadyne from amazon or buy diesel kleen when I tow my trailer for the trip there and back. Not sure if it does anything worth noting but I feel really cool putting it in the tank LOL
I had been using Stanadyne since 2015 when I got the truck, but I've been using Diesel Kleen (grey bottle) for the last 6 or 8 months to see if I noticed any difference and I haven't. But then the truck has 273k on the clock, six original injectors, a head gasket leak, and runs like crap so now isn't the time to be comparing fuel additives anyway. I've also been using Archoil 9100 since I got the truck, and until three months ago (when it developed a high-speed tapping sound at 3k RPMs, and started puking coolant) it ran really smooth. I always was an advocate for Archoil after it cleared-up what felt like a slight miss in less than an hour. That was until I saw post #25 here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...jectors-2.html
Chris, brief summary: Dated testing done in 2007. Main concern then was lack of lubricity additive in ULSD. Testing was done with untreated ULSD (not pump diesel) + each additive only, compared to untreated ULSD alone in a wear test. Many popular additives did not improve lubricity much and many have been reformulated... You can skip to the bottom and just see the rankings for a speed-read.
I'd like to see something more current with all the latest popular additives (including Ford's) in the research.
