Noisy Explorer

I have a 98 Explorer Sport 4x4 that makes a sound similar to a bent bike tire rubbing against the bike frame whenever I accelerate or make a right turn. I've replaced ball joints, rotors, brakes and tires yet I can't eliminate the noise. Any ideas?

May sound silly, but the first thing I'd try is putting a little vaseline on each of the rubber bumpers that make contact with the inside door frame. Each door has two, including the back hatch. 99% of the funny noises I had going over bumps, turning, etc. went away!

figured it out?

I have the same problem with my 94 xlt. I get the rubbing sound at speed (over 25mph) and then it "clicks" and goes quiet when I drop beneath 5 mph.

Have you figured it out or have similar symptoms?

Sorry it took so long but the problem turned out to be one of the gears in the rear end. If you need further info, let me know.
