I've just been looking into the replacement bed situation myself for my 85 with an 8 footer. In speaking with a autobody guy last weekend, he determined that my bed is way too banged up and rotted. His recommendation was to go to a junkyard. He said he believes that the beds for the 80 to 87 styles are compatable with those on the syles up to 97. If this is the case, it's alot easier to find a bed in much better condition. Good Luck!

the Diff. in the 87 up Beds isn't the body lines. It's the wheel well openings are diff. If ya don't look at em real closde ya can't tell. If you want it to really match do a frontend swap. Most do the frontend swap from 93 up since they got a better looking frontend then the real boxy shape of the 87 to 92 fronts. If you pull the frontend in tact with the core support it's a easy bolt on swap. only trouble is fabing up bumper brackets for the newer style bumpers.
