Error Code when updating Sync3
I have tried to upload files on USB stick as instructed.to get the updated Sync3 ver 3 .Now When I start up and insert the USB stick I now get a message Installation Failed error code SIGN_ERR01 and the USB isn't recognised.
Have changed the USB to a music USB and that gets recognised ok but as soon as I insert the USB with the Sync 3 update files I lose the USB. (can only see the radio and CD on the screen).
have tried 5 different USB sticks that work in other vehicles and as soon as I insert them with the update files same problem occurs. The number to contact shows as 610-386-133673, but when i previously tried to get information from Ford they told me to contact a local dealer in Australia and the local dealers know SFA and the company that converted the vehicle to RHD are limited and suggest I don't upgrade as I may have a sat nav map issue - original maps were US based and as useful as a Trump Tweet and had installed an Aus version of the maps which work fine. Ford Australia handball to Dealers who know nothing about US produced vehicles and not interested in following up and suggest I contact Ford Australia (These blokes must have worked for government departments prior to the motor industry?) Is Sync 3 ver 3 worth the trouble or is there some way the vehicle will read the USB stick with the downloaded files?
My only suggestion is are you formatting the USB stick as "exFAT" before you put the files on it?
I have no idea what exFAT means, but that is one thing the Ford instructions specified.
Rich
Thanks for that and yes I formatted the USB stick(s) exfat32 - windows format even with a few verbal instructions to the said USB sticks, still no joy
shoot me a PM with your IVSU package numbers and I will see if I have them to link for you
So, upon further research, I discovered that a thumb drive formatted in fat32 was only capable of accepting files up to 4GB at a time. So, I re-formatted thumb drive in NTSF and then had no problem.
So, be sure the entire file is downloaded to thumb drive.
Good luck.
I was having issues with two files after multiple downloads from the Ford owner site. 7zip would error during extract and I could not manually copy these files to a local SSD or USB using Windows explorer. The other files were fine.
\JR3T-14G381-AS.zip\SyncMyRide\JR3T-14G381-AS.tar.gz
\JR3T-14G381-AS.zip\SyncMyRide\JR3T-14G391-CE.tar.gz
While I don't have issues downloading files, I have issues downloading JR3T-14G381-AS.zip from Ford. So, I then connected my laptop to my Verizon mobile hotspot (no traffic inspection) and downloaded the same file without an issue. I am able to extract JR3T-14G381-AS.zip without errors and I can copy the two above .gz files manually as well (to test). Traffic inspection on my network firewall is likely causing this grief.
I'm using a 16 GB Corsair Slider X2 formatted to exFAT with 32 KB allocation size, unchecked quick format. A full format doesn't take too long with USB 3.0. I copied the extracted "SyncMyRide" folder and the two files, "autoinstall.lst" and "DONTINDX.MSA" plus the original zip file (JR3T-14G381-AS.zip) to the root of the USB drive. It's what I did last time and it updated without an issue. Total space used is 2.95 GB for this update file.
Instead of running the engine, I connect a battery charger (be mindful of the BMS if it exists) and update in KOEO. Insert USB drive to a front USB port, KOEO, waited for the update to download, cycled KOEO when instructed and it reported updated. I then uploaded the sync*.xml file in \SyncMyRide\ that gets created prior to key cycle. I don't think I reported the XML last time, did so this time for the heck of it.
Disclaimer: I have the non-sync basic radio in my truck. This was my 2017 Fusion with NAV so the file name may be different for F-series. However, it's Sync 3 so this process is the same.
