different width

Are the factory bed metal strips more narrow then the ones that are sold now? The stock bed strips on my truck are a lot thinner then the notched area that are on the wood bed planks.

How much thinner? The "notched" area that was rabbited out is wider than the strips to allow the boards to expand and contract.

The size difference is about 1/4 inch either side. The wood that butts up next to the the bed sides needs to be drilled for castle bolts. Wanted to ask before I start tearing things up. I will try to readjust boards better before anything else.
