I think that's a transverse-engine D4 platform that would never get a Coyote in the real world, especially since they just discontinued the platform. I also think the sticker kit is tasteful for what it is. I suspect the new CD6 Explorer doesn't have room for a Coyote and also that Ford wouldn't go to all the trouble to engineer one into it for a niche market. If it didn't already have 400HP easily available it might be different.
The days of getting a 5.0 into an Explorer are over. Ford is very much committed to EBs and it shows in this current generation platform. If there was a possibility, it would have been in there as an option on the ST which it is not. Also I don't think the 5.0 would fit in the current platform either. The 3.0 makes a ton of power. A 5.0 would just have been neutered sucked down just as much fuel as the 3.0 V6 if not more. Granted the RWD bias of the 6 gen would be ideal for the 5.0.
The vehicle above would not be able to support a 5.0 to begin with since it is a FWD biased chassis. As far as I know, the 5.0 is RWD biased engine or a Longitudinal engine. It's torque output would have to be severely limited in a FWD configuration. I heard rumor the 5.0 might be coming to an end in the F150s since the latest Gen EBs are pretty much making the power and getting better fuel economy in the next gen F150s. The 3.0 V6 EBs are basically making just as much power as my 6.2 Boss in my F350! So it will be interesting to see where the 5.0 will be in a couple of years which means they spent the money and now are going to no longer have a new for the engine due to CAFE standards/ market demand/ etc.
I have to say that the graphic fits that Explorer body creases really well. Using a similar stripe but with appropriate graphics might be a cool throwback graphic for the Explorer ST. I agree that the Explorer is not engineered for a V8. Even the Expedition and Navigator do not have a V8 available and haven't since 2015.
