Which clutch?

Good afternoon everyone! I'm in the process of doing an engine swap on my 4x4 76 F150 and have a question. It's currently configured with a 351M and an NP435 trans. The engine leaks like a sieve and has carb issues to boot so I decided to just swap it out. I have a roller cam 351W out of my 94 Bronco with a comp cam and GT-40 iron heads I plan to swap in this weekend. I'm having a hard time nailing down which clutch I need though. Will the clutch from the Bronco, being out of a hydraulic clutch vehicle, work mated to an NP435 or should I purchase a clutch for an I6 or 302 dent? I found plenty of info on the main swap itself but couldn't find anything definitive on clutch selection. Thanks in advance!

The clutch from the 351w will work with the mechanical TOB. But make sure you source the right bellhousing for the NP435.

Are you reusing the 351M bellhousing or do you have a sbf bellhousing for the NP435?

I picked up a SBF bellhousing from an old Torino with the I6/302/351W bolt pattern and extra mechanical linkage.

Make sure your flywheel fits inside the bell housing before you get everything bolted up. There are 2 different teeth count for the small blocks. I tried to put an aluminum bell on my 289 bronco. Same engine but wouldn’t fit over the flywheel.

Correct, the OP needs the cast iron truck bellhousing not the aluminum car one as used with toploaders.

It's part # D1TA-6394AA which comes up as a cast iron truck bellhousing in my searches. I'm going to bolt everything up this weekend before I drop it in to make sure the clutch clears and the starter engages the flywheel properly.

I wanted to bump this back to the top as I'm still in the process of getting this together. Apparently the bell I have, even though it's a 71 truck part number, isn't the correct bellhousing for my application. After doing some research I found that Ford used the same part number for bellhousings with two different depths. 6 1/4" for cars and 6 3/4" for trucks. I have yet to locate a 6 3/4" version. Also the extra 1/2" is going to throw off the location of the engine mounts. Not a huge deal as I can just move them forward to accommodate. Does anyone have a different part number I could search for? My setup consists of a 1996 351W with a 164 tooth flywheel, an 11" clutch designed for a 76 F150 with a 302 and an NP435 trans.
