EBPS

I’ve been chasing a rough idle problem for a while now. RPMs going up and down, missing, pretty much whole truck shaking. In checking different sensors and whatnot I unplugged my EBPS. Idle smoothed right out, no more miss and it quieted way down. Runs like a new truck, except for the CEL. If I plug the EBPS back in about 30 seconds later the CEL goes out and it instantly starts running like crap again. Bought a new sensor just to check, no dice. Ordered a new connector so we’ll see, I was just hoping someone here has any idea why it would change the way the truck runs. Everything I’ve read points to the EBPS only controlling the EBPV, and mine hasn’t moved since I bought the truck, it’s always all the way open. It’s a 97 F-Super Duty if that makes any difference.

There seems to be so many myths on the EBPS.
When I deleted the EBPV 200k ago, I also deleted the EBPS too. No CEL & the truck runs perfect.
1997 F250 with 400k that uses 3qts. of oil every 3k. I would be tempted to rebuild the motor, but I can get 20 to 23mpg on the hwy. Sadly it had a K&N filter the first 200k and the compression is a bit low, 350 psi to 375 psi now. I always wonder if the lower compression helps the mpg?
Good luck on finding a solution.
Bob

Im no expert ( I have an IDI) and just purchased a 96 F350 box truck with PSD that's why im back on here cuz I need to relearn all the problems of the PSD. Anyhow my buddys 96 PSD ambu presented w the same symptoms, we tried to clean the EBP pipe but it was too clogged so bought the whole kit and caboodle, plus cleaned the fitting out where it went into the exhaust manifold it was also clogged. It should be noted that b4 doing this we first cleaned and reinstalled IPR with same symptoms, then replaced the IPR w new but that didn't solve the problem either, once the new sensor and piped installed it fired right up ran smooth got better MPG. So if your sure your pipe is absolutely cleaned, your sensor is new and functioning, the wires are not hacked and the port going into manifold is clear maybe swap in a new or clean the IPR. Just for ****s and giggles I boiled the old EBP pipe for about an hour in dawn dish washing liquid in a big old aluminum pot on my out door propane stove it cleaned up nicely, its set aside as a spare.

EBPS tube is easier to replace with brake line than trying to clean it IMO

Might be time for a scanner. I wonder what pressure EBPS is reading. If it read high, it can de fuel
