I've decided to purchase a Re-manufactured 7.3 engine. I'm looking for what Ford calls a " Enhanced Long Block " Basically a short block with heads. I believe it comes complete with oil pan and front cover and oil pump. No Injectors, glow plugs, Intake , or covers. I've heard about Asheville engines in NC. Of course, I could go with Ford Dealerships also. Has anyone heard of CCP Diesel in my neck of the woods in Pennsylvania ? Any other reputable Re-builders I should consider ? I'm thinking I should go with a build slightly better than stock with updated components and blueprinting of build for longevity. One rebuilder offers ARP Headstuds for a considerable upgrade cost. What are your opinions on that upgrade ? Any help would be appreciated as I stripping my bad block now and replacing/ rebuilding components. In case you need to know, I have hole in my piston. My truck is a 2001 Model so upgraded intake bolt holes. Oh, I will be swapping over all the upgrades from old motor. Basically a Stage 2 build with a Banks Kit, 4 inch exhaust, Alliant 160/100 Singles, DP Tuner , and upgraded Air box.
I like your build choices, about what i would do.
even though we have machine shops around here that can do the work i would choose swamps for their expertise on the 7.3. always better off using someone that specializes in the subject matter.
Having spent my share of time and money in the world of hot rods, I prefer to go with a local and reputable builder for the normal range of builds. So much easier to ensure things are going as planned and should there be an issue, far easier to resolve. I've been burned more than I care to admit by supposedly specialized and awesome builders only to take said builds to the local guy with my tail between my legs to fix the problems where one memorable time he stated: "looks like they machined the block with a f*ing wood rasp."

I agree on this and have that problem myself. But here in Cali there aren't many left that we can trust or really know diesel engines. I've looked at swamps engines in the pass, it's just the price that stopped me. And now with the new owners, who knows what's going to happen.
