Clunking from rear

I had the same noise on my 03 screw 4x4 and took it into the dealer as it is still under warrenty and the tech told me that in some pickups, when the rearends were assembled from the factory that they are suppoesed to put in a additive for the gear oil in the diff and not enough was put in. As a result it prematurely wears out the clutches for the limited slip. The dealer replaced the clutches and put in the proper amount of additive and gear lube and problem is gone. The noise on my truck would be when you started at the light or turned a hard right or left. I hope this helps as this was a more perminent fix.
