Wiper Trouble
My wipers don't work worth beans. When I turn them on they go half way up and stop. If I push on the blades they take off for a little bit and stop again. Is it the motor? Ita a 64 f-250. Im sure its the orginal wiper motor and everything else. Where do I start? Thanks

Couple things to check. The linkage parts wear out. The pivot that goes through the cowl can get loose, the arms that link the motor to the pivots have bushings that can wear out. These may be binding. Or, of course, the motor can go bad.
You can replace the wiper motor with a newer one with multi speeds along with the switch. The stock **** will fit on it. Someone over at Slick 60s did this.

bigsnow! I wrote a Technical article on the upgrade and it is published here. You can install a 4 wire motor and switch from a later model truck (using the 64 bracket and pivot arm). Later you could upgrade to delay wipe and windshield washer on the same button. David is correct about the other parts wearing out, especially the pivots. When you pull this stuff off, be careful that you do not lose the retaining clips (3) and washers. Carpenter sells the pivots, transmission arms are now a junk yard item. Someone used to reproduce them but I haven't found any lately. The intermittent wiper system is a real improvment and now is the perfect opportunity for you to do that.
