I have a '64 F250 w/ the 292 4spd. This truck's sheetmetal is rusted out beyond repair. I just purchased a '62 cab from a shortbed. Its rough but workable. Where might I find repair panels for it? Cab corners, etc. Does the '62 bolt to the frame the same way as the '64s, or will I need to fab cab mounts? Its a longbed fleetside- will '65/'66 beds bolt on?
Rick at Carolina Classix has real nice repare panels for the floors, as well as new cab mounts.
Here's a picture. As far as I know nobody else has these. Every vendor out there has the 65-66 stuff, but the 61-64 style cab isn't supported all that well by some.
Not all cab corners are created equal. Some cabs have the rib running all the way down and some run to about 4 inches from the bottom. Also, some of the cab patches do not have the crease formed properly so some fabrication is needed.
I used a set of pans from Rick and they were a great fit. With the exceptipon that they were a bit short along the kick panels. I had to weld some filler on the edge before installing.
Thanx for all your help, guys. Email was very helpful CustomCab!. Might get my ol' truck back on da road again. Good thing, too- my '81 F350 is being a pain lately.
Yeah, I ran into that same deal on my cab corners. The fit wasn't the greatest, but they worked. Glad to help with the link. We'll try and save em all if we can! Later,
I own a couple 61 and 63 F100 4x4's. In the beginning stages of the nicest of the 63's. I was glad to see the pics and info on the floor pans from Carolina Classics. Unfortunately they don't have a web site. I'm also needing the front cab supports and cab to frame mounts, if anybody knows where these are available. I've been informed that 2 wheel drive cab mounts are different and won't work on my 4x4. Parts for the 61-64 4x4 are even harder to come by. If any one knows of a good source for these parts.....please let me know.
I think Carolina HAS those, but you'll have to call them and order a catalog till Rick gets his website up and running. It's not ready yet. He should be able to fix you up or at least steer you in the right direction. Later,
Waiting for a catalog from Carolina Classics. called them...but they don't have the frame to cab mounts for a 63 4x4. Really needing them if anyone knows where they can be purchased.
