been a member for a while but not very active. I type like lightening never striking the same place twice. So messages tend to be brief and to the point. Currently have 1999 F250 super duty V10, 2014 f150 and recently acquired 1965 F100. In process of restoring 65. Recently raised truck ~ 5" so the old fat boy van get under it. Found a good source for donor parts . Frustrated about the way the previous owner lowered it (butchered) but learned a lot in past 3 weeks. Removed 460 and c6 trans. rebuilt 5.0 high output to replace 460, acquired c4 got flex plate in and assembled Tuesday. Got engine and trans set in truck today. Looks like Ive got about 4 degreee of camber that I will soon have to deal with otherwise things are coming together.
It sounds like a great project. You are probably aware of the, Older, Classic and Antique Trucks section. The folks, in there, love a challenge and more than eager to help.
The previous owner installed 7 inch shackles on rear which lowered bed. then moved front rear spring housing back and down ~1.5 inches. Net result shackle and spring protrudes thru bed so he installed a false bed with a spacer to cover butchering, Then he cut 3 coils off front springs. Suspension was non existent Found stock shackles, front springs and front rear spring mounts. replaced all except front rear spring mounts as the modified ones were welded on and its going to take long time to grind weld off. Truck is within 1.25 inches of stock dimensions. Believe it or not I now have suspension back and truck will bounce when I jump on it. Bed is off truck and 460 engine has been removed with c6 transmission and butchered motor perches. New perches installed from donor truck with 351 engine. But figured out they are not the 302 mounts but 6 cylinder style . 302 fits but sits 1 inch higher than stock 302 mounts. debating replacement of motor perches or spacing transmission mount so as not to affect drive line angles. rebuilt 302 High Output engine and coupled with c4 transmission . currently working on finalizing motor swap. It will be a long process but keeps me with something to do.
thanks. Its a slow process I keep finding stuff he did. noticed that he cut an ~ 2 x 1 slot in the bottom of the rear spring hanger likely to provide clearance for those long shackles. I am going to repair/ replace to prevent future problems. I have thought about selling the lowering components on marketplace but then someone else will butcher another good truck so the dumpster looks good too.

I agree entirely with this. I've done the same for some other POS aftermarket stuff that came from my used purchases and on friends' cars.
