Hello all,
installed a few additional small LED lighting cubes to the truck and wired them so they supplement the high beams.
the right-side high beam provides trigger voltage, the relay is installed on the battery tie down and the 12V pos and neg are connected to the battery terminals. The light output with high beams now is great, but the unexpected side effect is static on the radio when the high beam lights are on.
im going to add clip-on ferrite chokes near the lights to see if that will help. Should I also place a few on the 12V supply and ground wires?
any ideas appreciated.
Steve
I don't know what they look like, but led lights and lighting you put in your house can do the same thing. The switching power supplies they use to fire the led's cause it. Not sure how they get away with this with the FCC regulating things, but that is our government for you. They say for house lighting, a metal box surrounding the ballast that is grounded is the best thing to try and knock the noise down. If your radio has a cd player or a aux input that you use, if the noise is not on that but only on the radio, the chokes are probably not going to help. If the noise still existed during playing cd's, tapes or using the aux, that would mean it was on the power line to the radio and the chokes may help. If it's only on the radio, then that means it's in the air and you may not be able to get rid of it. Just think when sitting at a stoplight the other people's car radios probably have static also. Great technology isn't it?

No luck. 😡 no noise on the CD. Although I love the extra candlepower, the noise isn’t worth it. I guess the lights are coming off.
I’ve read the cheaper ones from amazon and overseas will produce static and higher quality ones made in USA or equivalent won’t. I don’t have any firsthand knowledge if this is true. Hope this helps
