Sync Update

Have a 17 Exp that has never updated the sync. Auto updates have been on for a month in garage that should be close enough to wi-fi but hasn't done it yet.. Anyone have theirs up to date and does it make much improvement.

My experience with my 16 was that the auto update feature never works. I've had mine on since I purchased it, entered the password for my home WiFi and nothing. I did my last update using a USB which was frustrating. Doesn't seem that Ford hired the right firm to design that software.

Any big changes after updating? Does it really need to be done?

I had to manually push my wife's 16 to update earlier this year and it took me a few tries. I can't remember what version we were vs what it is now, but there were some visual as well as functional differences. The main reason I did it was to be able to try out the Android Auto option with Waze. My wife doesn't like the way Android Auto takes over the screen and she can't quickly easily swap to the radio screen to see/change radio channels.

So, is it necessary? I don't think so, unless you're wanting to use Android Auto, but I do remember thinking the visual appearance looked a little better/updated.

This was my experience on my '18 XLT as well, but after I had it at the dealer the sync software was updated (not sure how - may have just been registered with their WiFi) and now it appears to update correctly at home. So, perhaps try a manual update (using a USB key? or ask the dealer to do it?) and see if it starts working.

Like broncoholic mentioned, I was looking for the Apple Carplay/Android Auto features to be refreshed allowing Waze. Other than that I haven't found a major improvement in Sync software.
