Morning PA, i'm back from the dead!
To answer the earlier question about length of time owning a vehicle: I think right now the record is held by my 66 Beetle, since i bought that in 2005 and still own it to this day (so thats what.....15 years?). I hang onto cars until they've either been run into the ground, or just plain run into (like my 68 Beetle, and my 97 Saturn). Then i go out and find something else to nurse along for a few years lol

Morning folks, welcome back to the work week. Starting the day with no servers, so, presently dead in the water as far as getting work done....
Welcome back from the dead, Ron...lol. I think with me it's that I have so much invested (money, time, emotions, etc.) into the 98 that I have kept it this long. My 96 has been around 6 years this year too and it's not going anywhere either. The 2010 on the other hand...well, it might be gone sometime this year.

Thats probably the reason my 66 Beetle is still around as well Bill: its got rust issues, mostly on the underside (thanks PA), and i should probably have ditched it years ago, but i can't bring myself to. Largely because its not in THAT bad a shape, but also because its my second car, literally: after my 68 was totaled by a drunk driver, i bought that one to replace it, then cruised it regularly for the first few years of college before deciding to park it during the winters. Now its just sitting, although i might try reviving it this year, rust be damned
The rest of my stuff just sticks around so long because i'm a cheapskate; i don't like spending big money on something that will be dead or nickel and diming me to death, and i can still work on older vehicles. The new stuff i would have to take to a stealership just to have an oil change done .
If it wasn't for the daggone salt they throw on the roads i wouldn't have to upgrade all that often!!

Morning Everyone. it seems we are having similar mornings. system issues so cant get one of my largest tasks done.
as far as length of ownership for a car. the longest was my last car, 4-5 years. the truck is less then a year and the jeep is about 2.

Morning Travis. I guess corporate out east is trying to come up with a work-around for the short term but right now all I can do is surf the web and read emails...
Ron, I feel like that's what my 2010 is doing to me. Now I need to buy exhaust (rust issues) and to put another factory muffler/tailpipe on is over $370. That money could be going into projects I care about lol. It's rotted enough I can't weld it, so, might just throw the $230 at a Diamond Eye cat-back kit and sort it all out. If I do sell it, I don't want to send a bubble-gum fix on to the next guy as that's not my style.

Good morning, Gang! Welcome back to the first full work week of 2020!
As for length of ownership, it's a muddled question. My wife's van is a 2011 with 185k on it, so it's up there on the list. My Super is my first new vehicle not counting the company trucks that I drove for a few years. Everything else was a hand me down. I was with my dad when he bought a new '87 Dakota. Stripped down, 3.9 V6, 5-speed, regular cab, short bed, power nothing. He totaled it twice, I totaled it once. We finally scrapped it two years after my accident in it in 2000. Mangled panels are easy to fix. Rusted frames, not so much. To match that in years, my first new company truck was a 2007 F150. At the end of the lease & at 120k, I convinced the company to sell it to my dad. It's still his daily driver. Finally, my wife & I bought a 2004 Sante Fe when my oldest was born. When we got her van, we sold the Sante Fe to my parents. My parents later sold it to my sister. Her husband still uses it as his daily driver, but the rust is finally outpacing his skills....

Thats the biggest issue living in this area: rust. It wouldn't be so bad if the state of PA wasn't like the gestapo with their inspection requirements: a rust hole bigger than a quarter fails, give me a break. PennDOT should be the ones paying for repairs, they throw so much salt down it eats vehicles alive. And why should i have to keep my vehicle roadworthy when the roads in this state aren't worthy of anything other than a rock buggy!!
