OK this should have been easy. I have searched the net and every “normal” auto store I can think of…………………..I am looking of a locking gas cap for a 03 Exc, with diesel. This has to be easier than it is! There is allot of info on the net…….and then the dreaded words, “will not work for diesel.
I'm surprised the X doesn't have any type of fuel tank security. I figured the fuel filler door locked with the doors, but as I discovered tonight when I filled it up, it doesn't. We're a one auto parts store town, so I'm at the mercy of the 18-year-old behind the computer at our local NAPA. Wish me luck.
Hey Firstford !
LOVE the ole' land rover - What year is it???
I had one when oversea in Iran that was OLDER than me !
I called it the original beast !
4 cylinder - clunky, but would climg a tree !!!
Really took me some places that were UNBELIEVABLE !
The Landy is a 1972 Series III 5-door Station Wagon. I found it in England this spring and had it shipped back. I'm heading over again in December to look for another one, probably a short wheelbase, though. One of the original SUVs, the Landy is the exact opposite of the X. 85 hp from the straight 6, top speed of 65, 0-60 in the same day . . . if there's no head wind, loud, rides pretty rough, leaks oil, no power anything etc. . . But I LOVE it. It does have one thing in common with the X, though: Door locks that don't work. It'll pull a house off its foundation in 4-low.
DOOH again - if I had read the caption on your pic :-)
If I recall - (30 yrs again !!!)...
Mine was a series one circa 1948 or 49....
the roughest riding old piece of green metal you've EVER seen...
but this was in the early 70's in Iran and I wanted something with a little SIZE and that would get me there and get me back ...
I figured it had been going for 25 years, what's a few more !
I recall having 10 people in the old thing going up to the Caspian sea for a weekend - whew - good memories in that old truck !
Thank goodness mine had the steering wheel on the left !
