96 explorer question
I'm sure it is on here but I can't find it. I have a 1996 v8 awd explorer that I swapped into my 2001 sport trac. Had it running and driving and then the trans exploded. What are the donor trans options. I think it is the 4r70w is there a difference in 2wd and 4wd trans any help would be great.

Donor trans for this era are going to be a crap shoot. If you have time/money/ability to swap a few in to get a working one then maybe it's the right fit for you. I would look for the same year and model vehicle your current transmission came from. Check the build tag on your current one and compare to the potential donors.

I am open to rebuilding one but my case literally blew into multi peices so I need to know what I can use as core at the least any help would be great I did the v8 swap myself I have good back ground and have ability just don't know all the change overs if I could use a 2wd case and my shafts or if it has to be a 4wd case
