I have read about switching over to the steering wheels from a Lincoln and some specific year (not sure of the year) super duty. If you are looking to just freshen up the looks of the wheel, you can check out Dallas Custom Steering Wheels. @01__Excursion has his wheels redone by them and IMHO, they look very good. Check out his build thread.
Does anyone else know of an OEM style replacement?
So it looks like they have OE inventory, and if you are not sending your existing wheel in for a re-do, when you receive an OE one from them, you will have to send them your existing one back. Hence the OE inventory I guess...
Looks like their pricing is inline. My wheel was overkill, and a little costly, but it was done to match the seats I recently had recovered.
I had extra padding added, thumb rests (standard on Navigator wheels), two tone leather, and chosen stitching. I prefer working with the "little guy" if you will, Donald Le at Dallas Custom was excellent to work with especially since I'm pretty **** about detail. I sent him leather samples from my seats so he could match, and he was great about sending pics back for me to approve.
Not sure if you are wanting your wheel re-done as new, or a complete custom job, either way he'll do what ever you want, and I was really blown away when it arrived. That Medium Graphite never really shows well in pics, it always looks like the Medium Parchment (tan).
I picked up a steering wheel from a Navigator( years 99 - 2002), sanded it down, primered it and then used matching paint and here are the results. I did this about 3 years ago and it still looks as good. Make sure you get the clock spring from the donor car.
