Question Changes to Order?

I ordered my F350 with the tremor, lariat sport, and ultimate lariat package a week ago (on Saturday).
I called him on Tuesday (3 days later) to see if I could add the Ultimate trailer package to get the 360 degree camera system.
He said it was to late?
The plant isn’t even open and he said it would be 8-12 weeks before I get my truck.
Should I call and get a second opinion?
Ive never ordered a truck before, so have no experience.
I also asked for a copy of the paperwork I signed.....and got nothing.
Even though I put down $1000
All I have is our texts and emails....agreeing on a price and options on the truck.
Any advice?

Im pretty sure ive read on here several times that as long as a VIN has not been assigned it can be changed. I think your salesman is full of crap and probably just lazy. The deposit, as far as I know is refundable, you should be able to cancel and re order what you want, or cancel and go elsewhere. I think they will all of sudden be able to change that order if you are persistent.

My salesman said the same thing when I decided to change to a 4.30 rear gear 3 days after I placed my order. I just stood my ground and said he didn’t have a choice and sure enough, he found a way.

Maybe it’s a pita for the salesman, but either way there’s no reason it can’t be done to keep the customer happy when the time lapsed was so short.

I thought I read somewhere that even after Vin, some things can be changed.

I changed my order 3 times (adding options). Then I was going to change color but was told I couldn’t anymore.
when I checked the VIN had been issued.

I guess I am lucky. My dealer ordered mine with zero deposit.

The deposit is just to show good faith that you are serious, its refundable and varies by dealer. Most common is $500, some $1k and some don't need one at all. Not a big deal, you're going to spend that and much more when the truck arrives.

Every manufacturer I’ve worked for allows changes up until it “locks in” roughly 7-10 days before production. Been awhile since I worked for Ford but that’s how they did it years ago. Either you have a very fast production date or the dealers being lazy.

Here you go.

https://blueovalforums.com/forums/in...cussion-forum/

According to this certain changes can be made up to about 2 weeks prior to production.

Update:
So I emailed my salesman and his boss, asking if i could add the ultimate trailer package and wind shield wiper de-ice system.
Low and behold my salesman emailed back within minutes, saying he would try another manager.
About 5 minutes after that he e-mailed back saying it would get added; no problem
So I couldn't be happier!!!!!
Not sure why he couldn't so it the first time....but whatever, it's added now.

Don’t forget about your deposit when you’re truck shows up and it’s time to complete the paperwork.

Ask me how I know! Dealer asked me to put down $500 when I ordered back in 2012. Truck came in and I guess I was so excited about it being there, I forgot about my deposit (from about 6 weeks earlier). Dealer must have forgotten it as well. I had to go back and have them cut me a check.

Good luck with your order and new truck!

This is great information, but weird for me.
I ordered a Rapid Red 350 XLT SC 4WD 6.7 on 11/18 a day or two before silver spruce was released.
As soon as I learned of Silver Spruce, I tried to change my order and was told "can't happen". I was dealing with some aging father issues at the time and de-prioritized my request and accepted that I would have to have Rapid Red as my color.
Well, I took delivery yesterday (Saturday 12/28) and the Rapid Red blows me away! I feel like my dealer actually did me a service by not "allowing" me to change a detail of the order (I will not opine on whether it was by choice or not). But I will say for the record that I am extraordinarily pleased with the service I got from New Holland Ford in Lancaster, PA and would highly recommend their services to anyon in my area that is looking for a Super Duty truck.
I love my new truck!!
