Wow,
I thought the article i posted was an isolated case of extreme stupidity, however it seems that brain dead is more common than I assumed. Must be inbreeding, or excessive use of recreational chemicals, or some such !!
Or perhaps the human race is in serious danger.
This past year I've been kind of amazed to see several rigs, including some newer 3/4 and 1 tons of all makes, that did not appear to be unreasonably loaded, with the frame mount tie downs, but using the ratchet straps instead of fast guns or turnbuckles. I've seen a few over the years, but I think I've seen more of that this year than in the last several years combined. Perhaps new to campers people in a better economy not understanding or believing what kind of damage they could do to the tie down points on their campers? $30K plus trucks, $20K plus into the camper, $600 give or take on the tie down brackets and you come up short on the turnbuckles? Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
