I changed my truck over to a c6 from a 4 speed. The tranny is rebuilt and has a new daaco stall(2500) in it. While driving, it seems like it is slipping alot in drive but not so much in L2. Then when it downshifts as I am slowing down to a stop, when it goes from L2 to L1 it feels like it is disengaging, then engaging, then disegaging..... When it does this, it makes the truck jump and kinda makes a grinding noise, its the rear end lash being taken in and out and in... Does this sound like a bad stall converter or something on the inside of the tranny that needs adjustment. Then tranny guy told me it was the slop in my rear end so I put a different one in and still same. I am calling him monday but wondered if anyone else has experienced this before.
Its not in the converter. You have some trash in the valve body or problems with the governor. May be an issue with the vacuum modulator. The guys here should be able to give you a better idea.
I just put in a 3.25 Ford locker. It had a 3.50 open which was worn out so I changed it at the tranny guys recommendation. The problem is still there so I know it cant be that. Like Ratsmoker said, it is probably in the valve body. I will have to call him back Monday and tell him he has a tranny to rebuild again for free. If anyone else has an idea of this problem, please post. Thanks all !!!
I have a high duration cam with not much vacuum. That wouldnt cause this would it? That was why I installed the stall at the cam makers recommended stall.
