Amp Heat
I bought a couple of box cups to put on the box, and I decided I would wire the amp back to two channel, just to see if the right channel was working again. I wired it stereo, and it worked fine. (P.S., the amp is a MOSFET amp, it says so on the cover.) So, since that worked so well, I decided I would move the ground wire to make it shorter. Most of the wire was under the carpet, and when I pulled it back, I thought "Hmm, that looks longer than 24". Let me measure it". Low and behold, it was 36"! So I decided I REALLY neadded to shorten it. I cut it to 16", and moved it around to see where that would hit on the frame. It landed on a good spot, so I scraped the paint off and hooked it up with a nice big screw. I also put the cups in, of course. When I finished and turned everything back on, I thought I would let it run at my normal listening level (VERY loud) for a while, and see how long it takes to get hot. I ran it for 20min straight, and it never got above 85-95 degrees. Granted, it is in the trunk and it is about 45 outside, but I would say that is a marked improvement over 150 degrees. Oh, and it hits alot better, maybe because of it being stereo, or I put the cups in, lessening the port openings, or because of the ground. Whatever the reason, I'm glad I figured it out!
