That article is what got me to looking for an old truck. When we found our 65 on craigslist I thought we were on the right path. Then I joined FTE to get some info on 65's and that changed our trajectory. Since our truck turned out to be one of the original Rangers it wouldn't have been right to go with the coyote to me. So it still has the 352/FOM combo it came with. It is staying basically stock and back to original colors. It should be out of paint in the next couple weeks and hopefully back to daily driving in March.

If you ever have to work on that transmission it's not a FOM (Ford-O-Matic) but does share some parts with the older FOM. Your's being a V-8 engine if should have been the MX COM (Cruise-O-Matic). Even in the 1965/66 MX COM lineup the transmissions each have their own parts lists. There were a few different identification codes that are on a tag that was fastened to the side of the transmission housing.
1965 - PDB-A, PDB-C
1966 - PDB-D, PDB-E, PDB-F, PDB-F1 and PDB-F2
Those numbers designated certain uses, like F350 or F100 with Thermactor Emissions Control, etc.
