anyone know where I can get a new flywheel? it seems that a 67 with a 240 3 speed is special. I can probably have mine machined, but thought if not just buy a new one.
I wish I had a dollar for every time I have heard "I have never seen that before" from getting the john deere tractors repaired to vehicles... thanks and merry Christmas to all...….
If there is no cracks have yours machined, there is a few new flywheels out there but even those need to be machined and balanced because you can't trust them. I have yet to see a new flywheel that was properly machined. All of them are cheaply lathe cut and never the proper non directional finish.
I hear you. im assuming mine needs turned because its "jerky" when taking off. I have another one that was behind a 300, but not sure if it would work.
something about the balance may be different or somrthing.
thanks
I thought the 300 flywheel was not balanced not sure on the 240.
The other thing I would look at is the starter tooth count if different and the dia.
Have you gone to say Rock Auto and look up both flywheels to see if they use the same part numbers?
Now if not the same it could be that 1 is drilled for a 10" only clutch / PP and the other is drill for 10" & 11".
Most 300 FW I have seen posted are drill for both clutch setups.
May want to ask if the 240 & 300 FW's are the same over in the motor area for six's.

wiil do. I will take mine out first before I do anything. everything I have found new say 300.
240's are not mentioned. Benbuilder has one if I have to replace mine.
