rim size

I have a 2000 F-150 Lariat with the 4x4 Offroad package. It has the stock 17" rims. Can i go to a 16" rim. My fear is the fitment of the four wheel disc brakes. Will I clear them safely? Also any recommendations of lift kits? I'm looking at fitting 35x12.50's. I don't want to go really high(want to maintain a "stout" look).

Yes the 16's will fit. 16" is the minimum rim that will clear the brakes. Anything bigger is ok too.
