C6- 5speed

I have a 1994 f250 2wd I6/C6. 65,000 original miles. Flawless mechanically. Would like an extra gear for the interstate. I did change the rear end from s 410 to a 354(5?). Almost 3k on the tach at 70mph as she is now. A local 1996 f150 with I6 and 5 speed has come up for sale. Any reason this would not work? I think with a complete truck, the only other major thing would be getting the driveshaft length corrected, unless the 250 and 150 share that as well.

That will work, note that the 5-speed in the F150 is a light duty Mazda M5 not the heavy duty ZF5 found in the HD trucks, but it has the upside of not having a granny low 1st which is useless on the street so you will have 5 forward gears to play with regularly, and it's a smoother shifting trans than the sometimes clunky ZF.

They might have different size U-joints, as well. I imagine if you take both the F150 and F250 shafts to a shaft shop, they might have all the parts they need to build you the correct shaft.
