Fuel Tank Selector Valve Replacement

I currently have a small but increasing leak on this line where it meets the quick-disconnect connector to the Fuel Tank Selector Valve. I already have a new FTSV, and have needed to replace it for some time now, due to issues in the past with it. Now, I’m looking to do it, since I’m creating small stains of diesel in the driveway. I’ve searched all over the web and the FTE forum, and cannot find a solid write-up or video on the replacement of the FTSV.

Anyone out there have some insight on a good step-by-step write-up on this?

It is pretty straight forward.
The fuel lines are held on the valve with plastic u shaped clips which will probably break on removal. I got new ones from NAPA. Take a small screw driver and pop the clip out of all lines. Then pull the lines off the valve. The valve is held on the frame rail with 2 bolts, 10mm is the wrench size IIRR. Install in the reverse order.

I appreciate the response. The "U-shaped Clips" are what holds the plastic fitting at the end of the fuel lines on to the nipples of the FTSV? I'm asking, because I have the fuel line removal tool, if that helps prevent any breaking of clips.

Yes on the clips. The tool you have is probably the one for the round spring type connectors, which are totally different from these clips. In your pic, below your arrow, you can see a hole in the plastic part of the fuel line. There are 4 holes in the plastic, 2 on each side, that the clip slides threw. The plastic elbow has an o-ring in it to seal it to the valve nipple. The clip slides below a ridge on the valve nipple to hold the line in place.

Do you happen to recall the part number for these clips? Are they different sizes, due to the different size fuel lines?

I replaced all mine with rubber fuel lines and hose clamps. Got tired of fuel leaks!

I’m also finding out that the quick-disconnect fittings that go on the end of the fuel lines to the FTSV nipples are no longer made. Buddy showed me some from Dorman that are out there, and DieselORings.com is saying that people are just running fuel lines direct.

I’m thinking of that as well! Do you have any photos or details to share on that?

I have much better results using stainless fuel injection hose clamps. They don't cut the hose.
Constant tension spring steel clamps are also an option.
